CASI Chair Woman - Lisa Schuette
Lisa is a Carson City native who grew up in a home full of rescued animals. At the moment she and her husband Steve share their home with Hank, a destructive but lovable 105 lb. lab mix who believes the world is his playground.
As the founder of CASI, Lisa is committed to "Building Shelter, Building Community" by providing opportunities for everyone to become a part of a solution of compassion. Lisa also serves on the board of directors of Smile for a Lifetime, a
non-profit that helps students in need get braces, and The Ron Wood Family Resource Center.
CASI Vice Chair-Linda McKenzie
My name is Linda McKenzie and I am a cat person. I got my first cat when I was about 7 and I have had at least one cat living in my home since then. I have owned 3 dogs, fish, a hamster, and a rabbit, but cats are where my heart is. I have contributed to animal welfare charities since I was 18- mostly through donations (checks).
In October of 2012, when my daughter Jennifer told me she wanted to do her senior project on animal welfare, we did a web search on Carson City animal welfare organizations and found CASI. When Jennifer called the number she was very surprised to learn it was her former Carson Middle School health teacher, Lisa Schuette who answered the phone. Jennifer and I went to our first CASI meeting and were appalled to learn our current animal shelter was built in the 1960’s. We have adopted 3 cats from the Carson City animal shelter, and never once considered the age or condition of the facilities. I continued to go with Jennifer to CASI meetings to learn more. Jennifer completed her senior project, but I was already “sucked in” and was unable to let it go. So, now I am Vice-Chairman because it’s important to me and, like I said, I can’t let it go.
CASI Secretary - Robin Ponte
Robin has lived in Carson City since 1981. She and her husband John currently share their home with a goofy rescue dog named Buddy.
Robin works for the State of Nevada and is an avid golfer and runner.
"I love animals and look forward to helping CASI reach its goal of building a much needed shelter".
CASI Treasurer- Sandy Osheroff
Sandy shares her home with Linda, the cutest rescue dog on the planet.
After dedicating 20 years to her private accounting business, Sandy retired in 2011 to spend more time doing the things she enjoys such as gardening travel, and helping her community.
In addition to helping CASI, Sandy is also the membership and budget chair for the Friends of the Carson City Library.
